Did you invest in the Investing4you scheme? This scheme has an FCA warning and a police investigation.
Find out more about Investing4you and how you may be able to claim back your losses.
What happened with Investing4you?
Investing4you has left thousands of investors with significant financial losses.
The scheme promised high returns through forex trading, with assurances that losses would not exceed 10% of the invested amount.
Unfortunately, many investors have lost their life savings, with no evidence of legitimate operations.
Declan Nowell, the director of Investing4You, has been accused of flaunting wealth on social media whilst misleading investors about the scheme’s legitimacy.
FCA Warning Investing4You Ltd
In August 2021 the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) placed a warning about Investing4You Ltd on its website.
It said it believed the firm may have been providing services without authorisation and was targeting people in the UK.
Almost all firms and individuals offering, promoting or selling financial services or products in the UK have to be authorised or registered by the FCA.
If you have dealings with an unauthorised financial firm, you won’t have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
This means you are unlikely to get your money back through these two organisations if things go wrong.
However, if you have been affected by investing with Investing4You there are still options that mean you could recover your funds.
Protecting yourself against investment scams
The common characteristics of investment scams include unrealistic promises of returns and a lack of transparency.
Investors often encounter aggressive sales tactics and find it challenging to access comprehensive information about the investment’s legitimacy.
As a result, it is crucial to remain vigilant and conduct thorough research before engaging in any investment opportunity.
What to do if you lost money in Investing4You
If you have lost money due to a scam it’s important that you contact your bank immediately and inform the police or action fraud.
The Humberside Police opened an enquiry looking into the set up and operation of Investing4you Limited. You can raise an enquiry with Humberside Police here.
The Contingent Reimbursement Model Code (CRM) offers a potential path for victims of scams involving UK bank transfers. That is provided that the bank is signed up to the code and the bank transfer was made after May 28 2019.
Despite some banks denying refunds, victims are encouraged to challenge such decisions, as the investment may meet the criteria for an Authorised Push Payment (APP) scam.
